Illinois POPS Record 2008

Miscellaneous Information

JUMPS

We plan on making 15 jumps altogether, 5 on Friday, 6 on Saturday and 4 on Sunday (to allow people time to get to the airports). Jumps will be from 17,500 and will require oxygen.

Expect an early start on Saturday and Sunday.

COST

The registration fee is $90 and will cover a tee shirt, goodie bag, barbeque, cannula, event DVD and mailing, etc. Approved jumpers should send registration checks to
T.J. Hine
346 N. Justine
Suite 400
Chicago, IL 60607

Jumps are NOT included in the registration. The cost of each jump is $30 to 17,500ft, inclusive of the cost of oxygen, for a total jump cost of $420. Jumps may be paid for in advance - contact Skydive Chicago for details.

FALL RATE

The base captain promises to set a fall rate that will be "brisk but not ballistic". We intend to do multiple points so it is important that fall rate is consistent across the formation. Bring whatever weights, jumpsuits or sleeves you need in order to be successful. It is everyone's job to maintain the fallrate.

REQUIREMENTS

POPS membership number (if you are not a POPS member, see the link below)
Reserve repack good through the end of the event
Current USPA or equivalent overseas membership card

WAIVERS

All jumpers must complete a 2008 waiver for Skydive Chicago.

FOOD

Lunches will be available at the drop zone every day. You may order a box lunch in advance - order forms will be available. Downtown Ottawa is about 3 miles from the DZ and has many excellent restaurants. Ottawa itself is a historic river town and is well worth a visit.

PACKERS

If you are not a local jumper and would like a packer during the event, please see Nicole Omdahl, who will put you in touch with one.

WARM-UPS

Load organizing will be available at both Skydive Chicago and Chicagoland Skydiving Center the day before the event begins (links below).

SOS RECORD

SOS members are invited to set the Illinois SOS record on the afternoon of July 3rd. Contact John Kallend if interested.

WEATHER

The average daily high for the date of the event is 85 degrees F, and the average daily low is 64 degrees F. July can have thunderstorms, so bring along some rain gear too.

RIGGING

A full service rigging loft and pro shop is available at Skydive Chicago.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Activities for the family within a few miles of the DZ include: swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, hiking (there are two State Parks nearby) and, of course, watching us perform a record setting skydive.
